Updates from Avondata and the hospitality technology sector

A review of the year so far at Avondata

It is hard to believe that we are now over halfway through 2019 and what a year it has been so far.

Here at Avondata, we’ve been working hard to enhance and develop our hotel management system to ensure all our hotel clients have access to market leading technology to support the growth of their businesses.

Here, we take a look back at our key successes of the last seven months:

Development work

Our amazing team of developers has made huge progress on the browser-based version of our hotel management system Hotel Executive which we plan to launch early in 2020.

While that project has been ongoing we have also been working with leading analytics technology company IDeaS on an exciting new integration with its world-renowned revenue management system.

This integration work will soon be made widely available to all our customers. It enables Avondata’s hotel management software to feed data such as occupancy, dates and availability into IDeaS G3 Revenue Management System which then uses AI technology to set pricing according to multiple factors to maximise hotel revenue.

This massively reduces the amount of time revenue managers need to dedicate to data entry, allowing them to become more sales focused and boost bookings.

Finally, we have also announced a new integration with leading EPoS (electronic point of sale) system pointOne, which is used by restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and hotels across the UK.

New clients for 2019

We’ve welcomed a number of fantastic new clients to the Avondata family including:

Bel & the Dragon, southern counties

This is a boutique chain of six charming country inns across the south of England, five of which offer characterful bedrooms for guests wishing to stay overnight. Bel & the Dragon is gaining a reputation for its characterful pubs which serve up fantastic food and wine. We are now working across all five of its hotel pubs.

The Fenwick Hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland

This stylish hotel sits in the picturesque Scottish village of Fenwick and is a perfect base for those wanting to explore the beauty of the Scottish Lowlands. As well as its array of stunning bedrooms, the hotel has a fantastic restaurant, meeting rooms and conference facilities and is a popular wedding venue.

The Christopher Hotel, Berkshire

This former coaching inn, dating back to 1711, lies in the heart of the historic town of Eton, a stone’s throw from possibly the most famous private school in the world, Eton College. It is also a short walk across the River Thames from Windsor Castle, Windsor Great Park and Ascot racecourse and the many other attractions the area has to offer. Dogs are welcomed at the Christopher Hotel.

The Auckland House Hotel, Isle of Wight

Located in the traditional seaside town of Shanklin, the Auckland House Hotel brings a touch of Mediterranean chic to Britain’s sunshine isle. With cool crisp interiors with no detail overlooked, the Auckland has been designed to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all its guests.

Staff changes:

This year has seen a number of staff changes at Avondata. We have welcomed four new staff members to the Avon Data family in the last six months:

Rochelle D’Souza has joined us as implementations manager, responsible for project managing new installations and existing customer upgrades, managing supplier relationships and developing new processes to improve the on-boarding process and overall customer experience.

New client support executive Nathan Woodward supports hotel clients with using our suite of software products as well as handling channel manager integrations and builds of hotel booking engines.

Darren Hickling is our head of development, leading and supporting our team in building industry leading, robust and innovative software solutions.

Michal Sujanec also joined us as Level 1 support technician, assisting with first-line support, third-party software integrations and the build of hotel booking engines.

With so much activity over the first half of this year, 2019 has gone in a flash so far and we are really proud of everything that our team has achieved. We’re excited to see what the second half of the year brings.
